Until, 1994-95, the data centres at NIO, Goa, NRSA Hyderabad, IOM, Madras and IMD Pune, were strengthened and operationalised. During the year 1995-96, eight Data Centres were strengthened, out of which five were operationalised. These Data Centres are GSI, Calcutta; Survey of India, Dehradun; KDMIPE, Dehradun; CMFRI, Cochin and CDRI, Lucknow. Further, the Data Centres at Naval Hydrographic Office and RC, NIO, Bombay, were also strengthened with hardware and software facilities and also micro-earth stations for networking. The achievements made during the year include finalisation of data exchange formats by the data centres, popularisation of NOIS programme through publication of brochures, etc. The data centres at FSI, Bombay; CSMCRI, Bhavnagar; DOD; NHO, Dehradun and RC, NIO, Bombay, which are in the process of acquisition of hardware and development of software, will be fully operationalised during 1996-97.
