Design and Development of test seabed mining system

Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, Durgapur has developed in-house designed remotely operated collector unit and a bucket-in-pipe lifting system. The system successfully tested in a shallow basin environment ; a master slave manipulator has also been fabricated . In the second phase the design of the system will be improved upon for developing a working model capable of working at a depth of 200 mtrs. The second phase will further focus its activities to design of a collector unit, studies of hydraulic and air lift system , development of a remotely operated vehicale (ROV) for pipe line inspection, water proofing, electrical hydraulic component for underwater use, hydraulic nodules pick-up system, development of instrumentation and control for sea-going underwater systems.
