The sanctioned staff strength of the Department including attached offices
decreased to 181 during the year 1999-2000 because of setting up of Indian national
Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) as an autonomous society in
Hyderabad and attaching one subordinate office at Port Blair with another autonomous
society, National Institute of Ocean Technology. The detailed break up is given below:
During the year 1 Group 'D' and 5 Scientific/Technical posts were filled up and
one Scientific post is likely to be filled shortly.
