For demonstrating the usefulness of communication system to the fisherfolk who are at sea, shore stations were set up in seven places viz. Shankarpur and Frassergunj in West Bengal, Paradeep and Chandipur in Orissa, Salegeo in Noth Goa and Periya Veereampattinam in Pondicherry. Out of these, four centres in West Bengal and Orissa were operationalised. Construction of shore stations and erection of towers/mast for fixing antenna in Andaman & Nicobar Islands is in progress.
