In order to carry out basic research and train manpower in ocean sector, the Department has plans to establish Centres of Excellence in Universities and Research Institutions by augmenting their capabilities and assisting them to establish special facilities and adequate infrastructure. During the year, assistance was given to Andhra University to establish running seawater facilities and start Masters Degree and Post Graduate Diploma courses in Coastal Aquaculture and Marine Biotechnology.
