Survey and exploration in the Central Indian Ocean Basin (CIOB) mine site was carried out for revalidation of relative concentration and quality characteristic of nodules in different pre-determined blocks. Sampling with the help of grabs at a closer grid of 12.5 km. was carried out at 200 pre-selected stations. Three deep seabed mooring systems were deployed at three locations in the CIOB mine site for collection of time series oceanographic data. The deep tow survey carried out during the last financial year was also analysed and profilographs with photographs of deep tow TV camera, sub-bottom profiler data and side scan sonar data were also prepared. The abundance values are being updated on the basis of these surveys.
