Two coastal research vessels are being acquired to strengthen the marine pollution monitoring programme (COMAPS) of the Department. The vessels are being built indigineously. The National Ship Design Research Centre, Visakhapatnam has been involved in the design and supervision of construction of the vessels. It is expected that the construction of the vessels will be completed by March, 1996.
